Malcolm in the Middle Reunion May Be Happening, Says Bryan Cranston

Malcolm in the Middle went off the air 10 years ago, but the show could be headed for a reunion.

Bryan Cranston, who starred as Malcolm’s dad Hal on the long running comedy series, says he’s hopeful a reunion will take place sooner than later.

“I sure hope so,” Cranston said at the Maui Film Festival, where he was honored with a Navigator Award. “I really do, for no other reason than that I miss those people like crazy and I stay in touch with them. The boys are doing great and Jane [Kaczmarek] is doing wonderfully and I’d love to.

“There’s a possibility we want to start talking about the possibility of putting together a story that makes sense about that family 10 years or 12 years later,” Cranston added.

It’s way too early to project where a Malcolm reunion would end up running. The recent Full House reboot Fuller House has been a hit on Netflix. “You and I have seen this business change before our eyes,” Cranston said. “I don’t know how it works. I don’t know how everything works anymore but all I want to do is tell the story and have a good experience.”

The Fox series premiered in 2000 and starred Frankie Muniz as Malcolm, a normal boy who also happened to be a genius. The show won seven Emmys during its six-year-run.

Cranston will next be seen in The Infiltrator, an indie drama about a federal agent (Cranston) who infiltrated the Pablo Escobar drug cartel in 1986. The movie is in theaters on July 13.
