An area of west Edmonton has been cordoned off after a police officer was shot in the back just after 8 p.m. Monday.
Sources tell CBC News another officer is unaccounted for.
The wounded officer is expected to survive.
At least three dozen police cars are in the area of 184th Street and Calllingwood Road. Three ambulances and fire trucks are standing by. Smoke can be seen from a fire.
Police are telling people to keep away from the area and stay in their homes as the shooter is still active.
