Edmonton police are investigating what they describe as a “serious assault” at the Aurora Motel in west Edmonton.
A man was rushed to hospital in critical condition after police received a call at about 1 a.m on Wednesday morning.
Police said a person of interest was found in the area and is being interviewed.
Officers are also at a possible, secondary scene on 149th Street near 109th Avenue, involving a stolen vehicle.
Police said they are trying to determine if there is a connection between the two incidents.
