A fire burning north of Lodgepole is no longer out of control.
The fire has been contained, said wildfire information officer Geoffrey Driscoll.
“The firefighters have been working really hard,” Driscoll said. “They haven’t gotten any help from Mother Nature. They didn’t get any rain or anything like that.”
About 140 firefighters and heavy equipment were involved.
Some resources will likely taken off that fire and redeployed when other fires break out, he said.
The fire, about eight kilometres north of Lodgepole, started Tuesday and has since grown to cover more than 750 hectares.
In the past 24 hours, nine new fires have started in the province. In all, there are 16 fires burning in Alberta, but all are contained.
