Payment Dispute Leads to Pepper Spray for Cab Driver
A payment dispute has led to a cab driver being assaulted with pepper spray early on Monday morning last week, and police are looking for the two individuals involved in the incident. According to the RCMP the assault occurred on March 30 at approximately 2:10 a.m. Near the Jiffy Lube establishment on Fraser Street. A male and female entered the cab in order to go to an undisclosed location, and an argument ensued when the cab driver asked the couple to show proof that they could pay the fare for the ride. After the verbal argument started the male exited from the vehicle and used pepper spray on the driver before the male and female ran away. The cab driver contacted the RCMP to report the incident.
The use of pepper spray over a payment dispute did not cause any serious injuries for the cab driver, and police do have descriptions of both the individuals involved. According to RCMP Cst. Mylene Michon “He asked to see cash beforehand, and that was when the altercation started. t started out as a verbal argument and then the male went out of the vehicle and pepper sprayed the driver.” The male suspect being sought by the police had on a ark jacket, and the female had on a white jacket. The cab driver did not have any visible injuries from the assault and he was taken to the local hospital for a medical examination which determined that he had no injuries that required treatment.
