Rankin Inlet, Nunavut’s second most populated community, is still under a boil water advisory five days after the order first took effect.
The territorial Department of Health and Social Services issued the order on April 2 due to low chlorine levels in the community’s drinking water.
The department is advising the community’s nearly 3,000 residents to boil water for at least one minute for drinking, preparing infant formulas, making juices and ice cubes, washing fruits and vegetables, cooking, or brushing teeth.
The advisory was being reevaluated, though not lifted, as of early Tuesday afternoon, according to the department.
