The man killed on the Kikino Metis Settlement, south of Lac la Biche, is 38-year-old Michael William Sheppard, according to court documents.
Sheppard died in hospital Friday, but RCMP are not saying how.
Two people, a 22-year-old man and 27-year-old woman, broke into his home, killed him and stole some beer, the court documents allege.
The pair face second-degree murder, break-and-enter and robbery charges.
Both are scheduled to appear in court next month.
