Search and rescue workers spent much of Thursday digging 17 people out of a closed school in northern Alberta — although they were the ones who put the “victims” there in the first place.
Volunteers from Canada Task Force 2, which is based in Alberta, were in the town of Thorhild Thursday to train in a mock disaster. Their task was to rescue people from a school that collapsed under a heavy snowstorm.
Check out photos from the training event and learn more about how the mock disaster helps volunteers prepare for the real thing.
