A teen survivor has been located after deadly ravine plunge, while two other passengers in the vehicle were not so lucky. In the early hours of Sunday morning a pickup truck carrying three males lost control near Highway 40, and the vehicle went down into a ravine. According to RCMP Barry Larocque “They weren’t even on a road, it looked like they were going up to some kind of look-out.” After the vehicle stopped the teen survivor noticed that the other two occupants were very badly injured. This caused the teen to climb a steep embankment in temperatures that were -30C, an incredible feat for someone who is not injured and a testament of the teens inner strength with the leg injuries that he suffered.

The teen survivor of the deadly ravien plunge took hours to get up the embankment and find help. The other two male occupants of the truck died from the injuries received in the accident. According to Calgary EMS worker Brideaux “It came to rest in a frozen creek or river bed. The male driver in his late teens noted the occupants looked to be seriously injured — or worse. It was a very treacherous environment and extremely treacherous weather conditions.” When the teen finally reached the top of the embankment at roughly 4:45 a.m. he flagged down a motorist who was passing by, and the good Samaritan provided warmth and comfort until EMS and law enforcement arrived. Brideaux also said that “They could see the two other occupants lying by the truck. Paramedics descended by rope and assessed the patients in their early 20s as deceased.”
