Two break-and-enter suspects escaped injury after an RCMP officer fired at the pair as they fled the scene in a pick-up truck early Tuesday morning.
Police were called to the break-in at a liquor store in Lloydminster at 3 a.m., identifying two pickups connected to the scene.
Police pursued one, eventually deploying a spike belt which failed to successfully stop the truck.
However an officer at the spike belt location fired his gun at the truck.
When the vehicle finally pulled over, the two men were arrested: a 20-year-old from Lloydminster and a 29-year-old from Onion Lake, Sask. Neither had been hit by gunfire.
Police are still looking for a second pick-up, which is believed stolen.
The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team is now investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
