Government will offer tour of ‘skypalace’ later today
The Alberta government will show off its newly-renovated Federal Building this afternoon.
The building, once home to the controversial penthouse, also known as the ‘skypalace’ planned for former premier Alison Redford, will house MLAs and Alberta government staff.
The renovation is three years behind schedule and $100 million over budget.
The Federal Building became controversial last year when CBC first revealed a luxury penthouse was being constructed on the 11th floor for former Premier Alison Redford and her teenage daughter.The penthouse was canned but renovations continued.

Earlier this month, it was revealed that the government secretly spiked a public rink planned for an adjacent plaza two years ago. However, the garage to house the Zamboni machine was still built.
Manmeet Bhullar, Alberta’s Minister of Infrastructure will lead the media on a tour later today.
Staff are expected to start moving into the building in February.
