Amazon’s Transparent took home the Best Comedy Series trophy and its star Jeffrey Tambor picked up one for his portrayal of transgender woman Maura Pfefferman. Jane the Virgin‘s Gina Rodriguez took home an award for her work in The CW series. Showtime’s The Affair took home the Golden Globe for Best Drama Series and its star Ruth Wilson was also honored. The Golden Globes featured a number of surprise wins, but its other moments grabbing the headlines. Margaret Cho appeared in a running bit as Cho Young Ja, a North Korean general and new member of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. Her appearance riled some, but Cho shot back at critics and said, “I’m of mixed North/South Korean descent—you imprison, starve and brainwash my people you get made fun of by me.”

Fey and Poehler also made headlines for their opening bit where they poked fun at George Clooney and had jokes about Bill Cosby‘s alleged sexual assaults.
