Wildrose Leader Danielle Smith is addressing delegates tonight in a keynote speech at her party’s annual general meeting in Red Deer.
The party is going through a rough period. First they failed to take any of the four ridings away from the Progressive Conservatives in last month’s byelections.
The byelection results prompted Smith to put her leadership up for review. Days later, she withdrew that offer after she received the full support of her MLAs, hours after outspoken MLA Joe Anglin resigned from caucus, complaining about “turmoil’ in the party.
However, that may not be enough to satisfy the party’s grassroots, which makes tonight’s speech crucial for Smith.
CBC will livestream Smith’s speech starting at 7 p.m. MT Friday. The CBC’s Kyle Bakx is in Red Deer covering the AGM. He will be posting tweets and other material from the meeting here.
Smith isn’t the only leader addressing the party faithful tonight. Premier Jim Prentice is making a speech at the PC AGM in Banff starting at 7:50 p.m. MT. CBC is also livestreaming his remarks.
