It’s been exactly one month since it was revealed that Kate Middleton and Prince William are expecting their second child, but we have yet to catch a glimpse of the soon-to-be mother of two as she continues to battle severe pregnancy sickness.
The Duchess of Cambridge is making headlines this morning after reports claimed that the pregnant royal—who has been suffering from hyperemesis gravidarum, a rare pregnancy complication often categorized by extreme sickness—was forced to cancel yet another public appearance.
The Daily Express reports that the duchess was set to visit Olympic sailor Sir Ben Ainslie’s America’s Cup team base in Portsmouth, Hampshire, on Monday, but suddenly had to cancel due to her ongoing bouts with illness. However, the Palace said that “no such visit was ever announced,” adding, “We’ll be looking at each of her public engagements on a case by case basis.”

It is possible that the reported appearance was in the works before Middleton was deemed too ill to attend, as a royal aides spokesperson had previously announced that the 32-year-old beauty was originally scheduled resume her royal engagements in October and November.
Earlier this month, Kate was forced to cancel her fourth event due to her struggles with hyperemesis gravidarum. She was unable to attend the launch of The Clore Art Room at Barlby Primary School in London on Oct. 1 and instead sent a message of support to the school which was read on her behalf, saying she was “truly sorry” to have missed the opening.
She also previously canceled an appearance at Oxford the day it was revealed that she was expecting before pulling out of the Opening Ceremony of the Invictus Games and later calling of her trip to Malta, opting to send Prince William in her place.

Most recently, it’s been widely reported that Prince William is planning an official trip to New York City in the coming months. The palace is also hoping to bring Kate Middleton along for the trip, which is expected to last several days.
The final decision, however, will ultimately depend on Middleton’s health.
Currently, Kensington Palace is proceeding with caution before announcing any of the duchess’s specific plans in case she is unable to attend.
