A 21-year-old man is in custody after a man was found dead by police on the Samson Cree Nation Sunday.
Josée Valiquette with the RCMP says police were contacted Sunday night when the victim’s body was found burning.
On Monday afternoon, officers and police dogs searching the area around the home found the man’s body nearby.
The victim has not been identified. An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday.
Police have charged the 21-year-old with second degree murder and indignity to a body. He is scheduled to appear in a Wetaskiwin court on Thursday.
Police have determined that the death was not gang-related, but the investigation continues.
