Royal Winnipeg Ballet offers free seats to residential school survivors

Former students of residential schools are being offered complimentary seats to the Royal Winnipeg Ballet’s upcoming production of Going Home Star — Truth and Reconciliation.

The production is inspired by a story based on Canada’s residential school experience. Shows will run at the Centennial Concert Hall Oct. 1-5.

There’s a limited number of complimentary seats available, and they are being offered on a first come, first served basis.

Those who want to reserve seats for survivors are asked to contact the RWB by Sept. 29.

The ballet company also announced a pay-what-you-can evening on Oct. 2 to give patrons an opportunity to see the performance at a reduced rate. A donation of $20 is suggested.

Pay-what-you-can tickets can be purchased at the concert hall between 5:30 pm and 7:20 p.m. on Oct. 2.
