The former federal cabinet minister, who won the leadership of the Alberta Progressive Conservative Party on Sept. 6, does not yet have a seat in the provincial legislature.
Prentice has said that he wants to run in a north Calgary riding.
Both former Tory Calgary Foothills MLA Len Webber — who has been sitting as an independent since earlier this year —and Calgary-West PC MLA Ken Hughes announced on Monday that they are resigning as members of the legislature.
On the weekend Webber won the Conservative Party nomination in the new federal riding of Calgary Confederation.
