WestJet’s final rescue flight out of Mexico will be landing in Calgary on Friday evening.
The airline has already filled up three planes with passengers who were stuck in the vacation destination Los Cabos following the devastation Hurricane Odile inflicted on Mexico’s Baja peninsula.
Friday’s flight to Calgary — which is open to all stranded Canadians at no charge — was set to leave Los Cabos around 2:30 p.m. MT.
Travel.gc.ca, the federal government’s website for Canadians travelling or living abroad, is advising Canadians who want to be evacuated from the area to get to the Los Cabos airport.
The airline said only it expects there will be about 50 passengers on the final flight.
A similar flight on Thursday brought about 118 people home.
All regular scheduled flights to and from Los Cabos between Sept. 17 and Sept. 21 have been cancelled.
