Jenna Bush Hager Reveals the Barbara Bush Hair Advice Getting Her Through Self-Isolation

The late Barbara Bush‘s hair advice has been Jenna Bush Hager‘s saving grace during self-isolation.

This morning, the former first daughter turned Today With Hoda & Jenna co-host caught up with In the Room‘s Jason Kennedy over Instagram Live. During their visit, the TV personality opened up about her newfound appreciation for “simplicity” amid this pandemic.

“But I think that’s one of the beautiful things about this time, even though it’s a time of great hardship for so many, is that simplicity, going back to the way I think probably both of us were raised, which is eating every dinner with our family, sitting at the table and laughing, playing games,” Bush Hager reflected. “Realizing that things like hair highlights don’t matter.”

As the 38-year-old mother of three revealed she now has some grey hairs, she noted that wise words from her late grandmother has helped her cope. Apparently, the former First Lady of the United States never cared too much about her grey hair.

“My grandma went grey at such a young age and she always made jokes that my dad [former President George W. Bush] turned her grey,” the Today star shared. “But also, she said that anybody that worried too much about their hair were kinda boring. And I’m like, ‘You know what? She’s right!’ My hair’s gone to this, but whatever, you know?”

Thankfully, Bush Hager’s husband Henry Hager and kids have helped with touch-ups here and there.

Understandably, Bush Hager’s been thinking about her grandmother quite a bit during this time as the second anniversary of her death was on Friday, Apr. 17.

“I’m sure a lot of people that have lost people they love wonder what they would be like in this time,” she added.

In addition to her grandmother’s wise words, Bush Hager credited mom Laura Bush for being an example of calm during trying times.

“[My dad] said the best thing he did, the best decision he ever made was marrying her, because she didn’t complain, and it was hard. And she also gave him good advice and was a different temperament than him, so she calmed him down,” she said regarding the 73-year-old former First Lady. “And also, he knew that…he could take care of the country knowing that our mom was making sure that we were ok.”

Although Bush Hager admitted to being more like her father and grandmother, she stated that she tries to channel Laura’s “calmness.”

Chris Cuomo and his family are proving that together they can get through anything.

In the past month, the Cuomo household has gone through one coronavirus diagnosis after another. The newscaster was the first one to come down with the new virus, before his wife Cristina and 14-year-old son Mario contracted it as well.

But throughout the ordeal, the Cuomos have stayed strong and continue to post uplifting messages for their numerous followers. While Chris remains dedicated to his role as an anchor for CNN, his wife, a health fanatic, has been updating her fans with the many remedies that she’s discovered.

Among those remedies Cristina has shared is having her kids and husband by her side, at least in the metaphorical sense since they’re abiding by the recommended 6-foot distance. “Keeping one’s spirits up is paramount; when you have any kind of a virus your will goes down. This is a virus of isolation, so one of the best remedies for any illness is simply [heart emoji] and humor,” Cristina shared. “Thanks to the friends who have been religious in their efforts to make him smile. Laughter is always the best medicine.”

Jamie Otis Gets Emotional After Taking Coronavirus Test Before Her Due Date

Instagram

Jamie Otis is reminding us that we aren’t alone.

With everything going on in the world amid the Coronavirus pandemic, it’s natural to feel overwhelmed, uneasy and stressed.

In fact, those are some of the very emotions the 33-year-old reality TV personality—who is pregnant with her second child—is currently feeling.

On Wednesday, the Married at First Sight alum detailed her recent doctor’s visit, especially after reaching full-term status with her pregnancy. She revealed on her Instagram Stories that she got tested for COVID-19, per her doctor’s recommendation.

However, the entire experience triggered some emotions for the former Bachelor contestant.

“I’m crying all the time these days, I feel so silly, but… I genuinely am so nervous,” she shared in a candid video on Instagram, with tears streaming down her face.

She added, “I feel like everything is gonna be fine, but I just got the COVID-19 test because I’m full-term now, and I think I’m fine. But them I’m like, ‘Am I fine? I don’t know that I’m fine.'”

“Just the swab… that hurt really bad,” she shared. “I was like, if I can’t handle the swap going up my nose, how am I gonna have an unmedicated childbirth?! I think I’m just a little overwhelmed and feel mad at myself for being such a wimp about this.”

“I feel like I’m annoying to my husband [Doug Hehner] and my daughter [Henley Grace]. I don’t know how to reset my brain so I can just chill the eff out,” Jamie expressed, wiping away her tears.

To calm down and de-stress, the reality TV star said she’s been meditating, using her diffuser and trying to “think happy thoughts.”

In her Instagram caption, she admitted that she planned to take a “cutesy pic” to celebrate her full-term pregnancy. However, given her actual mood, she didn’t want to fake things on social media.

“I don’t wanna pretend I’m all happy-go-lucky over here when I’m a complete MESS,” she wrote in a lengthy caption. “I’m embarrassed to admit it & I feel *so* annoying to even be concerned about anything!”

In addition to sharing her feelings, she also took a moment to thank those who are risking their lives and working on the frontlines during the pandemic.

“I feel so corny to say this, but I genuinely want to thank everyone who is out there risking their lives to help save everyone else/deliver their foods, stock the shelves, etc.,” she shared.

Adding, “I’m so fortunate that I have a HEALTHY rainbow baby who is FULL TERM! (I’ve been holding my breath this whole pregnancy) I am the LUCKY one who gets to stay home and quarantine while others have to go out and risk their lives to help those who are sick. Honestly, I’m an RN and should be out there helping too but instead I’m safe inside. Which I justify with being pregnant but there are *so many* pregnant women going into the battle zone daily! They’re the real heroes!!!!⁣”

⁣Before closing her caption, she let everyone know they aren’t alone in feeling all the emotions.

“If you’re a pregnant mama worried over everything and anything right now aaaaand you feel kinda psycho with your emotions – girl, I GET IT. I’m here for you if you need to vent,” she said. “We will ALL get through this! One step at a time!”

Chris Cuomo's Wife Says Her "Heart Hurts" After 14-Year-Old Son Is Diagnosed With Coronavirus

Chris Cuomo and Cristina Cuomo‘s son is battling the Coronavirus.

The CNN anchor’s wife took to social media to discuss her own battle with the virus, while also sharing a health update on their 14-year-old son Mario.

“After 10 days of ups and downs, feeling good one-day and terrible the next, I am now working hard to get my son, Mario, through the virus,” Cristina wrote in a message on Instagram. “My heart hurts more than my head over his infection. I’m applying a modified version of my remedies for his protocol with a focus on lots of vitamins. Since his sense of smell and taste have disappeared, I am feeding him healthy foods that I normally can’t get him to touch. I kept a diary of the past week including my remedies and things that I did to stay sane through it all.”

It was just days ago that Chris reunited with his family, coming upstairs from the basement in his house after his month-long battle with Coronavirus.

Chris shared the news of Cristina’s Coronavirus diagnosis earlier this month.

“Families all across the state and the country are experiencing… its very fair for a family to be one and done,” Chris shared with his brother, Andrew Cuomo. “Cristina now has COVID, she is now positive and it just breaks my heart. It is the one thing I was hoping wouldn’t happen and now it has.”
