Advance voting for the Alberta provincial election started on Wednesday, making it easier for residents who can not get to the polls on May 5 to cast their vote and have their views count in the election. The polls will be open staring on April 29 and the advance voting hours are 9 am until 8 pm each day. Residents who want to check and make sure that they have registered to vote can go to elections.ab.ca to verify this information. Fort MacMurray residents can go to the downtown office of Elections Alberta at 10019B Franklin Ave to cast an advance ballot in the election. Residents in the Fort McMurray-Conklin riding can go to the Elections Alberta office at 300-425 Gregoire Drive or the they can cast an advance ballot at the Fort Chipewyan Municipal Office.

During advance voting and on election day for the Alberta provincial election any resident who is eligible to vote but who has not previously registered can register at the poll. Two pieces of identification which are listed on the Elections Alberta identification list must be used to verify the name and address of the voter. Any voter who can not vote in advance or election day may qualify for a special ballot. These special ballots are provided for those who can not reach the polls due to living in a remote area, those who are physically incapacitated, voters who are away from their electoral division during this period, inmates, and election candidates, agents, and officers.
