Recent Election Polls Show Alberta PCs May Be in Trouble
Recent election polls may spell some really bad news for Alberta PCs, and the election next month is shaping up to be a three way race.Quito Maggi, Mainstreet President, said “The first few days of this campaign are showing signs of a tremendously competitive race. Wildrose is holding steady but the sudden surge of new support for the NDP in both Edmonton and across Alberta is the real story. If this is any indication of the coming weeks, we may see more drastic swings as the campaign unfolds.” The recent polls show that the Wildrose party is leading the pack at 24%, and the Alberta PCs have dropped down to 21%. 9% of the poll respondents chose the Alberta Liberals, while just 2% chose the Alberta Party.
Marc Henry from ThinkHQ talked about the recent election polls and the Alberta PCs. Henry stated “Many voters may want to show the PCs to the woodshed, but not necessarily to the gallows. And even among a segment of PC voters, there is a sense that a strong opposition wouldn’t be a bad thing for Alberta. That’s why we need to be careful about reading too much into the early horserace numbers.” The former popularity of Jim Prentice and his party have been hurt by a budget that is full of bad news. The look in the mirror comment that Jim Prentice made during a televised speech did not help his party with Alberta residents any either. Instead people felt betrayed and ridiculed by the comments the premier made.
