Alberta Environment is dealing with a diesel spill on the North Saskatchewan River near Buena Vista Park in Edmonton.
Officials were first alerted to the slick after someone called the fire department Thursday night.
The city’s drainage department and Alberta Environment assessed the situation last night and officials with the provincial government said the diesel may have entered the river from a drainage culvert or an outfall near the Quesnell Bridge.
The cause of the spill and how much diesel entered the river is not known at this time.
Alberta Environment said it is continuing to investigate the spill.
