The PC Party has announced it will re-hold the nomination vote for Spruce Grove-St. Albert after discovering four people from outside the constituency cast ballots in the Feb. 21 vote.
Rus Matichuk was declared winner last Saturday, but a later review of the declaration forms revealed the mistake.
“Although we don’t know how these four people voted in the election, due to the thin margin of victory, these four votes could have played a major impact on the final result,” said PC Alberta President Terri Beaupre in a statement.
“The nomination committee met today, and decided the fairest route to take was for the nomination to be re-held.”
All three previous candidates — Rus Matichuk, Kathleen Range and Neil Korotash — will be on the ballet once more.
