MOOSE JAW, Sask. — Nova Scotia’s Mary-Anne Arsenault beat Jennifer Jones 9-6 to hand the Manitoba skip her first loss at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts.
Arsenault hit a tapback for three points in the eighth end and gave up a deuce in the ninth before holding on for the win.
Jones, the reigning Olympic champion, falls to 6-1 and leaves Alberta’s Val Sweeting as the lone unbeaten rink after 11 draws.
Sweeting will take a 6-0 record into her afternoon game against Quebec’s Lauren Mann.
Arsenault, who improves to 3-5, will next play defending champion Rachel Homan of Ottawa, who’s alone in third place at 5-1.
Round-robin play continues through Friday at Mosaic Place.
