LA PLAGNE, France — Canada’s Kaillie Humphries and Melissa Lotholz won bronze Friday at the women’s bobsled World Cup.

Humphries, who won Olympic gold last year in Sochi, and Lotholz, both from Calgary, finished 0.51 seconds behind Americans Elana Meyers Taylor and Cherrelle Garrett.

Americans Jamie Greubel Poser and Lauryn Williams were 0.24 seconds back in second place. With the event also counting as the European championship, Anja Schneiderheinze and Franziska Bertels claimed the continental title after finishing fifth.

Cathleen Martini and Stephanie Schneider took the silver, and Stefanie Szczurek and Erline Nolte the bronze in a German sweep of the continental medals.

Meyers Taylor, who has four wins this season, extended her overall World Cup lead over Schneiderheinze to 89 points.
