The peace officer involved in a roadside skirmish with dentist Simona Tibu testified in Camrose today, comparing Tibu’s actions to those of “a feral cat.”
Tibu, 40, was charged with assaulting a peace officer and resisting arrest after she was pulled over for speeding in August 2013.
Dashcam footage obtained exclusively by CBC News shows Sgt. Robert Behiels speaking to Tibu through the driver’s side window, then motioning her to step out.

From there, things appear to escalate quickly and the two struggle until Behiels puts handcuffs on Tibu and forces her to the ground. The entire incident takes place next to the busy highway, with cars driving by.
On Wednesday, Sgt. Behiels spoke at length about the incident, saying Tibu never acknowledged his request to hand over her drivers licence and insurance. Instead, he said, she began screaming at him.
Behiels, who has been a peace officer since 2003, said it was a struggle to get handcuffs on Tibu and that she tried to bite him at one point.
“She was all over the place,” he told the court.
Tibu, meanwhile, chuckled through parts of Behiels’ testimony. At one point, the judge asked Tibu’s lawyer to control his client, noting her laughter was inappropriate.
In October, Tibu told the court she was in fear for her life and had a panic attack when the officer pulled her from her car.
