Video disproves part of Regina woman’s police allegations

The Regina mother who accused police of mistreating her daughter has now seen surveillance video that disproves a key portion of her accusations.

Lisa Dustyhorn told CBC News she saw video from the apartment building where her daughter, 25-year-old Brooke Watson, was picked up by police.

The video was shown in a meeting at the Police Complaints Commission earlier this week.

The video shows that Watson was pushed out of a truck in front of the building by unknown individuals without her shoes and jacket, something Watson originally said police had taken from her.

Dustyhorn said she still feels her daughter was mistreated by police; that they drove her around town in an attempt to scare her and swore at her instead of taking Watson to her house.

However police maintain they tried to find a place to take in Dustyhorn, who was severely intoxicated, and that’s why she was driven around the city.

When they found no place was available, they say they took her to the cells at police headquarters.
