EPS Headquarters reopening after suspicious package threat

Edmonton police say the report of a suspicious package near the downtown headquarters was unfounded and have now determined the area to be safe.

Police say reports came in of the package around 4 p.m. Thursday, prompting the closure of the front doors to the EPS building, its front parking lot and service road separating it from the neighbouring Brownlee Building.

According to an emailed statement from EPS, the area will reopen shortly.
