Dr. Carl Amrhein has been named as Alberta Health Services’ new official administrator.
Amrhein, who will be responsible for providing governance oversight of AHS, will work in partnership with Alberta Health and will be accountable to health minister Stephen Mandel.
“Dr. Amrhein brings with him a wealth of experience from one of Canada’s most prestigious post-secondary institutions,” said Mandel in a release. “With his appointment, Albertans can be assured that health-care services of the highest quality will continue being delivered across the province by skilled and dedicated health-care professionals and staff.”
Before joining AHS, Amrhein served as a provost and vice-president at the University of Alberta. He holds a PhD in geography, where his areas of special interest included economic geography labour markets, decision theory and quantitative methodology.
