Police are investigating after a man allegedly touched several children inappropriately at a southeast park in Edmonton.
The incident happened at Blair McPherson Park, located in the area of Tamarack Road and 15A Street, between 6:30 and 8 p.m. on Friday, police said. The man tried to interact with several children playing at the park and allegedly made inappropriate physical contact with at least three children.
The children reported the incidents to their parents when they returned home, who then alerted police.
The Edmonton Police Child Protection section is investigating the incident and officers are patrolling the area.
“We don’t want to alarm anyone, but we are asking the public to be attentive and report any suspicious individuals or activities in the area,” Det. Derek Lai said in a news release. “We would like to identify the male and speak to him about his behaviour.”
The man is described as having a darker complexion and between the ages of 25 and 35. He is about five foot ten inches tall, weighing 200 pounds, with short black hair with some grey in it, an unshaven face and crooked and yellowing teeth. He may have a limp.
The man was last seen wearing a grey T-shirt, black shorts with a red-and-white stripe and a white ball cap. He was believed to be with two other individuals and left the park in a white or silver vehicle.
