Leduc RCMP respond to firearms-related incident

Alberta RCMP say it is again safe for residents to enter a west Leduc neighbourhood after a firearms-related incident Thursday morning.

Around 8:30 a.m., RCMP issued a news release asking residents to stay away from Selkirk Place and Aspen Creek in the Suntree neighbourhood. Residents were asked to avoid the area “for their safety.”

As of 9 a.m. police remained on scene but said the area is now considered safe for residents.

The incident was firearms-related, said RCMP spokesperson Const. Bridget Morla.

“There are firearms involved,” Morla said in an interview with CBC News.
