Hundreds are expected to gather for a memorial service to honour fallen Fort McMurray fire fighter Bo Cooper.
Known as “Unbreakable Bo,” Cooper died on Nov. 6th after a long and agonizing battle with three leukemia diagnoses.
The community, the province and the country rallied around the firefighter and professional MMA fighter to raise money for an expensive experimental treatment that was only available in the United States.
That’s after treatment options had run out in Canada for the 27 year-old.
In weeks, donors raised the $880,000 needed that allowed Cooper to travel to the the National Institute of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, Maryland.
Despite the last-ditch effort, his leukemia returned.
The memorial service is expected to start with a parade at 1 p.m. led by the Fort McMurray Fire Department. The service at Shell Place should start at 2 p.m., which will be followed by a reception.
