Edmonton man fails to return to minimum security prison


A 26-year-old man convicted of manslaughter is wanted after failing to return to a minimum security institution after an authorized temporary absence.

Garrett Leland Blackman did not return to the Stan Daniels Healing Centre following his authorized absence on Friday, Correctional Service Canada said in a release Saturday evening.

He’s described as:

  • Medium complexion
  • Hazel eyes and brown hair
  • 5′ 11″ tall, weighing about 261 pounds
  • Has tattoos on his arms, hands, thumbs, back and chest

Blackman has more than four years remaining on his sentence for manslaughter.
