Thieves break into Leduc car lot pinching tires and rims, police say

The thieves left everything but the tires and rims.

Late Thursday night or early Friday morning, two large holes were cut into the fence at Schwab Chevrolet Buick GMC fleet car lot in Leduc, police say.

The unknown number of thieves then proceeded to jack up several vehicles and steal the tires and rims. In the morning 13 vehicles were found sitting on wooden blocks instead of rubber.

RCMP estimates the value of the 52 stolen tires and rims to be about $60,000. All of the tires stolen were the same size — LT 265/70, R-17.

Anyone with information on the incident at 65th Avenue and Sparrow Drive is asked to contact Leduc RCMP at 780-980-7200 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
