A 50-year-old female pedestrian is dead after being run over in a north Edmonton parking lot.
Edmonton police say just after 2 p.m. on Saturday, a 32-year-old woman stopped her Ford Escape at a five way stop to allow the pedestrian to cross.
A Kia Sportage driven by a 79-year-old man then attempted to go through the intersection and rear-ended the Ford Escape. The collision caused the Kia to accelerate and it drove over both a curb and a median.
The Kia then ran over the pedestrian.
She was taken to hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Police say that charges against the 79-year-old driver are pending.
