Police say a possible tornado may have touched down in Leduc Saturday afternoon.
At 3:35 p.m. Leduc RCMP responded to areas on Highway 2, 54th Street and Willow Park Estates. Leduc is about 20 kilometres south of Edmonton.
The storm uprooted several mature trees and damaged homes and vehicles.
In a statement police said they are not sure exactly what the storm that caused that damage was.
“The nature of the storm is unconfirmed at this time and whether the damage was caused by a small tornado or extreme winds,” police said.
There are no reported injuries.
Province wide
It wasn’t just the Leduc area that was hit, severe storms have raged all across the province Saturday.
A weather alert has been issued by Environment Canada for Grande Prairie, Beaverlodge and Valleyview that “conditions will be favourable for the development of funnel clouds.”
The warning said that there is a chance of a “weak landspout tornado.”
