MP McLeod announces funding to support innovation and infrastructure development in Yellowknife
CanNor is investing over $730,000 to support expanded programming and workspace improvements at YK Makerspace

Investing in northern entrepreneurship creates new economic pathways through creativity, collaboration and innovation. Entrepreneurs and innovators can bring new experiences and expertise to support sustainable economic diversification, innovation, and self-reliance in communities across the territories.
Today, Michael McLeod, Member of Parliament for the Northwest Territories, on behalf of the Honourable Dan Vandal, Minister of Northern Affairs, PrairiesCan and CanNor, announced an investment of $732,944, delivered through CanNor, towards a three-year project by Makerspace YK. Makerspace YK is a registered non-profit that operates an inclusive hub for supporting entrepreneurs, start-ups, and creatives. This funding will support Makerspace YK in expanding programming and making workspace improvements at their Yellowknife location, enhancing accessibility and allowing Makerspace YK to provide more specialized services.
Through investments like this, the Government of Canada is supporting modernized and accessible entrepreneurship and business development in the North, bolstering diversified economic growth in territorial economies.
