Media tour of West Block and Visitor Welcome Centre construction sites on Parliament Hill in Ottawa

OTTAWA, Ontario, September 13, 2016 – Members of the media are invited to follow a guided tour of the West Block and Visitor Welcome Centre construction sites on Thursday, September 15, 2016.
Maximum of 10 media per tour. One reporter per press outlet.
Media are kindly asked to contact Media Relations at Public Services and Procurement Canada to register before noon on Wednesday, September 14, for one of the following tours:
Tour 1: 8:30 am – English
Tour 2: 10:30 am – French
Other visits may be organized based on demand.
Duration: Two hours, including health and safety briefing

(entrance to the West Block construction site)
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Please allow two hours. Note that the tour may be physically challenging. Expect to climb steep scaffolding staircases, walk through narrow and low-ceiling areas.
Long pants are required for health and safety reasons.
Please register early. Boot size required.
A mandatory health and safety briefing will be provided and protective equipment (boots, hard hat, glasses and vest) will be distributed on-site before the tour.
In case of rain: Tours will be rescheduled for health and safety reasons to Friday, September 23, 2016.
