RCMP Investigates Timberlea Shooting
The Wood Buffalo RCMP are investigating a Timberlea shooting, and the crime occurred very close to the police detachment headquarters in the area. The shooting occurred on Saturday September 5, 2015 at approximately 1:45 am. A news release from the RCMP explained that a report of gunshots fired in the Timberlea area of Powder Drive was reported, and police responded to investigate. There were no reported injuries in the area where the gun shots were heard but Cst. Ashley Quallie, spokesperson for the RCMP in the region, said that evidence was found that confirmed a shooting did take place. This is just one of numerous shootings that have taken place in recent months, only this time no one was seriously injured or killed.
After the Timberlea shooting was reported and the RCMP responded residents saw around a dozen police officers arrive on the scene at the housing division. The police spoke with Venture Terrace residents to determine whether any of the residents witnessed or heard anything that could be connected to the shooting. A large area was cordoned off with police tape and there were approximately 25 numbered pylons marking potential evidence at the scene. The location of the latest shooting incident is only roughly 200 metres from Paquette Drive and the detachment headquarters for the RCMP. Police are hoping that residents and citizens will step forward with information that can help solve this case and close the investigation. Anyone who knows anything about the Timberlea shooting on Saturday should call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or by contacting the Wood Buffalo detachment at 780-788-4000.
