The 2015 Fort McMurray International Film Festival is scheduled to on September 4, 2015, and the Fort McMurray Filmmakers Association has already started the preparations for the cinema event like no other. 2015 will be the 5th year that the event has been held, and in previous years it was a success. The festival covers three days, and visitors can find films from local, national, and international filmmakers. Cash awards which go as high as $5,000 are available, and there are 15 different awards categories that include Best Documentary, Best Short Film, and Best feature Film. This cinema event draws filmmakers from all over Canada, and even some from the rest of the world, in order to compete not just for money but also exposure and recognition.

One big draw in the 2015 Fort McMurray International Film Festival is the 48hr Film Challenge. This part of the cinema event will be held from August 28 through August 30, and local filmmakers will enter their submission to compete for a prize of $2,000. The competitors must complete a film in only 48 hours, not an easy challenge. The dates for the 2015 Fort McMurray International Film Festival are from September 4 through September 6. Tickets to the cinema event can be purchased at the Keyano Box Office. The price is $13 for a nightly ticket or $30 for a weekend pass which covers the entire event. The film festival offers local residents an opportunity to attend a fun and cultural event, and local filmmakers get an opportunity to show off their skills.
