Phony Credit Cards Paid for Alcohol at Airbnb Home Where Vandalism Occurred
A Calgary home posted on Airbnb has been trashed, and police say that phony credit cards were used to buy the booze and the food that was consumed while vandalism and possibly a drug fueled orgy took place. The damage estimate for the home owned by Mark and Star King is not at $150,000 and it could get even bigger when it is all said and done. The incident happened over the weekend from April 24 through April 27, and the couple has used the Airbnb site before with good results so they never expected what happened this time. Their latest rental ended up with their home becoming the scene of a wild weekend of partying, drugs, booze, and sex. According to Star King “It was a drug-induced orgy — that’s what police said.”
According to police there were phony credit cards, alcohol, and extensive vandalism. The floors of the home were covered with garbage, urine, semen, vomit, and even broken glass. The occupants and their guests had felt free to put out their cigarettes and even their joints out on the furniture. Originally the estimate for the damages were pegged at around $50,000-$75,000 but that has been revised to at least $150,000 as the full extent of the damage has become apparent. During the weekend the police were called to the house many times for noise complaints. When the Kings found out what was happening Star contacted police and requested that they remove the renters. Airbnb offers a $1 million property protection clause and they have contacted the owners to resolve the situation.
