Stabbing Death Near Gregoire Last Month Leads to One Arrest
A stabbing death which occurred in Prairie Creek last month has led to an arrest by the RCMP. The victim was a 26 year old male from Fort MacMurray, and the crime took place close to Gregoire on March 17. On this date the RCMP were called to Mustang Road in Prairie Creek, which is south of Highway 69, and were met by EMS personnel who were on the scene providing medical treatment to a male who had serious stab wounds. The victim was in the road and not in a residence, and he was transported to the local hospital for treatment. After arriving at Northern Lights Regional Health Centre the victim died from his injuries the same day. An autopsy was performed and the death was ruled as a homicide as a result.
After RCMP investigated the stabbing death in Prairie Creek a 19 year old male from Fort MacMurray has been charged with the homicide and has been arrested. 19 year old Nigel LaFrance was arrested last week and was scheduled for a court appearance on April 13. It is not fully known how the RCMP traced the crime to LaFrance, or why the 19 year old allegedly stabbed the 28 year old in the first place. All of the details in the case will come out eventually, and it is not uncommon for many details to be kept private during the initial stages of a criminal case.
