RCMP Investigates Abasand Shooting
The Wood Buffalo RCMP is investigating an Abasand shooting, and a local Fort MacMurray man was admitted to the hospital with wounds from the incident. The shooting occurred on Sunday morning at approximately 4:30 am. According to the Wood Buffalo RCMP reports of gunshots fired were called in from a house close to where the Abasands shooting occurred. When the police responded to the call they found a 32 year old man from Fort MacMurray in the residence with gunshot wounds sustained to his body. The scene of the shooting was on Ashgrove Drive, and the victim was taken to Northern Lights Regional Health Centre where he was listed as being in stable condition. When the RCMP arrived the condition of the victim was deemed critical and medical assistance was requested right away.
According to Wood Buffalo RCMP Cpl George Cameron the Abasand shooting involved wounds that required immediate treatment. Cameron explained “The call came in via 911 and the person who called said they heard several shots. When anyone gets hit by gunshots, you’ve got to make sure they get treated ASAP.” Police are seeking suspects who are believed to have been involved in the shooting but complete details on the suspects being sought have been kept under wraps so far. The investigation is still in the early stages, and the RCMP is asking for help from anyone who has any information about the recent Abasand shooting.
