Curling Fans Thrilled With Brett Kissel Performance in Fort MacMurray
Brett Kissel was a big hit with curling fans at the Elite 10 event held at the Grand Slam Social House. As an Alberta native Kissel has always been popular with area residents, but this was his first performance in Oilsands City as the headlining act. The star previously performed in Fort MacMurray in September of 2013, but he was the opening act for headliner Dwight Yoakam at the time. Since then Brett Kissel has achieved the 2014 JUNO Award for Breakthrough Artist of the Year, had two videos on CMT hit number one, and had 3 Top 10 radio hits. The performance by Brett Kissel had fans excited and the event was a big hit for everyone who attended it.
In the past Kissel has spoken about his love for curling fans, referring to them as crazy in a good way and a great group to perform for. Regional Recreation Corporation interim chief operating officer Russell Agnew issued a release which stated “The audience of curling fans, country music enthusiasts and community members was thrilled by the performance from this hot country star. The Syncrude Elite 10 brings not only an opportunity to enjoy some fantastic Canadian music talent but also the chance to see the 10 best men’s curling teams in the world battle it out on the ice to take top honours in the finals on Sunday.” Hopefully Kissel will return to perform in Fort MacMurray again in the future, the remote region could always use more entertainment options for area residents.
