David Yurdiga Warns of Carbon Tax Plan in Fundraising Email
David Yurdiga, the Fort McMurray-Athabasca MP, sent out a fundraising email to supporters of the Conservative Party which warns of a carbon tax plan effort by the Liberal led government faction. The email warns that this tax would be harmful to the economy of Alberta, and all of Canada. The email was sent to supporters on Monday night and it was intended as a response to the speech by Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau gave in Calgary on Friday. The email read in part “Trudeau has been hinting at putting a ‘price on carbon’ since he started running for Liberal leadership. His own Liberal candidates and MPs have openly supported a carbon tax. Canadians have already rejected this kind of risky ‘carbon tax’ scheme in the past — but the Liberals just don’t get it. Justin Trudeau’s risky schemes — like a carbon tax — will hurt families and damage our economy.”
In addition to the fundraising email from David Yurdiga the PM has also spoken out against a carbon tax plan which he says Trudeau supports. During a recent address to members of the Calgary Petroleum Club Justin Trudeau said “In spite of Mr. Harper’s hostility to the idea, British Columbia, Alberta, Quebec — and soon, Ontario — have all committed, in various forms, to a price on carbon. Combined, those jurisdictions represent over 85% of the Canadian economy. They are doing this because they know that climate change is real; that our children’s future requires us to reduce carbon emissions; and that carbon pricing is an effective way to get us there. The problem is that the provincial approaches are uncoordinated, and limited by a lack of federal leadership. There’s no way to ensure that all regions of the country are doing their part.”
