The Taliban Pakistani school killings have sparked widespread condemnation around the world, and the attack was the worst in many years for a war torn country. According to reports 126 were killed, almost all of them children and teenagers. The school is a military run institution but many of the students are civilians. The attack was carried out by a small number of militants and shocked the entire world because most of those killed were young and innocent. Tahir Ali, whose 14 year old son was killed during the attack, told journalists at the hospital where he arrived to pick up his son’s body “My son was in uniform in the morning. He is in a casket now. My son was my dream. My dream has been killed.”

The Pakistani school killings involved a brutality that is incomprehensible to almost anyone. The fact that the terrorists gunned down children and young teenagers for no reason at all is horrifying, and 126 children dead is a tragedy. Mohammed Khurasani, who is a spokesman for the Taliban, told the media in a phone interview that the group was responsible for the Pakistani school killings. According to Khurasani the act of terrorism was to retaliate for Taliban deaths by Pakistani authorities. The students who were killed had no role in these deaths, they were innocent of any crimes. Many suspect that the Taliban targeted a school and killed 126 students in order to gain global attention because the group knew that the act would shock and horrify the rest of the world.
