What bad bus behaviour drives you nuts?

Edmonton Transit is hoping to improve your commute by finding out what bad bus behaviours drive Edmontonians crazy.
Officials behind the ‘Be an Everyday Hero’ campaign hope opening the conversation about bus etiquette will encourage transit riders to be more conscious of their fellow riders.
As a first step, ETS is compiling a list of the most common complaints made by transit riders. One recurring complaint: backpacks.
“I actually got hit in the face with probably more than a few [backpacks] because people are taller and I’m shorter and sitting down is not very nice,” transit rider Marjorie Thompson told CBC News.
According to Baxter, one of the most common complaints is about that people take up valuable seating space with their backpacks. (CBC)
According to Jason Baxter with ETS, people exploiting priority seating is also a commonly reported problem, as are loud conversations and music.
He said the campaign, which launched this spring, will rely upon education rather than enforcement.
“We’re trying to teach the public this is a public space and we’re all in this together,” said Baxter.
“Because we’re in an etiquette – as opposed to a rule – area, we’re trying to teach ‘this is a public place and we’re all in this together,’” he added.
Now, we want to know what behaviours on the bus or LRT drive you crazy – whether it’s big backpacks, smelly snacks or noisy smartphones.
We put the question out on Twitter. Here are some of your answers:
