Peter's Mom, Barb, Is the Best Thing to Happen to The Bachelor in Years

Warning: Spoilers ahead.

Tuesday night’s (March 10) season finale of The Bachelor had one star and one star only: Peter Weber‘s gloriously messy mother, Barb. She may have never left her seat in the audience, but all eyes were on her—so much so that she was a trending topic on Twitter right alongside her son and the final two women, Hannah Ann Sluss and Madison Prewett.

If you watched even two seconds of the finale and After the Final Rose special, you know why. Barb had strong opinions about who Peter should end up with, and they conflicted with Peter’s own desires. She wanted Sluss for him; he wanted Prewett. Her reasons, at first, seemed valid: Barb claimed that Prewett kept the Weber family waiting for three hours in Australia, when they were all supposed to meet and hang out. She also criticized Prewett’s indecisiveness and unwillingness to be all in with Peter like Sluss was. But that’s problematic, seeing as how Prewett was also a human being trying to decide if she wanted Peter. She shouldn’t have been expected to be so blindly committed to him!

Barb said all of this in front of her son and Prewett on After the Final Rose. She also straight-up told Chris Harrison that she thinks the relationship will fail. And this is just the tip of the iceberg of Barb’s petty, iconic behavior: She didn’t smile the entire time her son and Prewett were on stage, only cracking a smile for when Sluss appeared. When Harrison asked the Weber patriarch, Peter Sr., for his thoughts on the situation, Barb whispered to him in Spanish, “Di algo mal también, ayúdame.” Translation? “Say something bad, too. Help me,” according to People. She literally asked her husband to talk smack with her.

Barb has also been commenting on Weber’s ex Kelley Flanagan’s Instagram. “The Most Beautiful, Elegant, Classy, Intelligent Stylish Girl in the world!!! You were and will always be my Fav rav,” she wrote under one photo. “We need to do lunch and go shopping for the day,” she posted on another.

Here’s the thing: Having your mom kiki with your exes and say your current relationship will fail would be a nightmare in real life. But it makes for glorious reality TV. Barb has made what was otherwise a meh season of The Bachelor incredibly watchable. I’m not condoning her actions at all—I’m just saying she gave us a pretty unforgettable two hours of television. For that, I have no choice but to stan.

The reactions to all of Barb’s antics are so good:

All hail Barb, the Queen of Mess.
