George Clooney has been dodging speculation that he’s eyeing a move into the political arena for years now, and the rumor mill doesn’t look like it’s going to let up any time soon.
The actor chatted with E! News alongside Danny Devito at the SeriousFun Children’s Network’s event—honoring the late Paul Newman—in New York last night and joked that the two “might be the ticket” for the next major election.
“Doesn’t it look like fun?” Clooney said about politics while chuckling. “Serious fun…I’m staying out.”
During the event, the newlywed took to the stage to explain the organization’s efforts and even gave his leading lady, Amal Clooney, a shout-out.
“Today, there isn’t just one camp, but there’s a thriving community in the U.S., in Europe, in Israel. Since 1988, these camps have brought over a half-million sick kids and their families from over five hun…over 50 countries—five hundred countries would be too many. There aren’t actually that many,” he told the audience.
“My wife’s the smart one!”
And once the audience was through with giggling about the elephant in the room, Clooney ended his speech on a more serious note about Newman.
“He is the best version of us. And I don’t mean actors. I mean humans.”
Clooney and DeVito weren’t the only famous faces on hand during last night’s event, either; in fact there was some serious Hollywood power in the room.
